We are thrilled to announce that local art studio, Make Room, will be making a second home at West Acres the first week of June! With our common values of art and experience, we knew immediately that they were going to be a perfect addition to the West Acres family. If you haven’t heard of Make Room before, read below to hear from studio owner, Chelsea, on just what they’re all about and what you can expect from their location at the mall…

1. What is Make Room?

Make Room is an Art Studio for everyone. We host classes on anything and everything ART, including painting, printmaking, fiber arts, folk arts, sculpture, woodworking… and the list goes on and on!

2. How did Make Room get started?

Make Room was started by me, Chelsea Thorson, when I felt a void after graduating from NDSU in the Architecture and Art departments, missing the active studio culture and access to awesome tools and supplies. I wished there was a way to dabble with new materials and skills without having to go out and buy bunch of stuff or make a huge mess at home. And so… Make Room was born!

3. What can customers expect from the West Acres Make Room location?

Customers can expect a place for makers of all levels of experience to come and explore new materials and techniques. We’ll have hands-on “Open Studio” on Thursday-Sunday, with a new theme each week. Drop-Ins of all ages are welcome to come and make art with us! Or, sign up for one of our ticketed events and learn a new skill under the guidance of a studio professional. During the daytime, weekly classes for kids will take place all summer long and into the school year, and adult art events will take place on weekday evenings!

4. What kind of classes do you offer?

Make Room embraces Art Making of all types. Our main areas of focus include painting, printmaking, folk art, fiber arts, and sculpture/3D design.

5. What is the cost of the classes?

Depending on the materials, classes cost anywhere from about $10-$40 per person.

6. What is the current schedule for Make Room classes at West Acres?

7. Why West Acres for your second location?

We have noticed that lot of our current customers live in South Fargo and West Fargo, and we are excited to serve that population in a convenient way! Plus… West Acres is such an active and energetic place, and we can’t wait to make art with people who haven’t met us yet!

8. Do you offer birthday or private parties at this location?

Yes! Make Room offers private Art Parties for all ages. Birthday parties, bachelorettes, showers, and office parties are all popular options! Click hereย to inquire.
