Can you believe back to school is already here? With the stress of getting the kiddos ready for a new school year, the last thing you want to be stressed about is their new wardrobe – let us help you out with a few tips to making back to school shopping a breeze

1. Do an audit of the closet

Before you go stock up on school-day styles, take a look at the closet to see what you already have. It also never hurts to try on a few pieces from years prior to see if they still fit properly, and donate items you no longer want or need. This is also a good time to take note of items you really need, and additional styles to put on your “want” list.

2. Check out our website and make a game plan

Before you head out, check out the directory on our website to make a game plan. Make a list of stores you want to visit so when you get wrapped up in the excitement of your new wardrobe, you don’t miss a stop! Haven’t visited for a while! See a list of NEW stores here!

3. Know your sizes & your budget

If you’re trying to make it a quick trip, make sure to double-check your sizes so you know when you walk into a store what size you need in certain items – saves a trip back and forth to the dressing room! It is also important to have a budget in mind (if you have one). This is where your list of needs and wants comes in handy – get the needs first and if there’s room left in your budget, go ahead and splurge on those wants. Stay up-to-date on current store sales to get more for your money!

Know when to splurge and when to save: If you’re buying a staple item like jeans, t-shirts, and jackets that you know you are going wear a lot or are going to get years of wear out of it, go ahead and splurge on those styles – the amount you spend will be far less than the amount of wear you get out of it! When it comes to those trendier pieces that might not be in style next year, try looking for a more adorable version or see if it’s on sale, if you’re worried about your budget.

4. Mix & match to make it versatile

When choosing items to buy, pick items that either go with multiple things in your kiddo’s closet or that would work well with other items you plan to buy. The worst feeling is looking at something that has been hanging in the closet for a year that they have never worn because they don’t have anything else to go with it. By buying versatile items, you’ll be amazed by how many outfits can be made from that one item!
