Whether we’re styling looks for models or getting questions on our social channels, we always get asked the same thing – “what’s the best way to roll your jeans with booties?” It seems like it’d be a simple concept, but it’s really one of those things that most of us don’t put much thought to until we are putting on our favorite outfit and find ourselves with jeans that are a tad too long for our booties. We’ve been there, and we’re here to answer your question!

The truth: There’s no “best” way to roll your jeans. In fact, there are multiple ways. All we have to say is that it tends to be a fashion faux pas to simply tuck the excess of your jeans into your boots (unless you’re wearing tall boots of course), so here are a few of our favorite ways to effortlessly roll and cuff your jeans to get a few different desired looks…

The Clean Cuff

If you like a clean, modern look, this is your go-to. The bottom of the cuff should hit around an inch or inch-and-a-half above the start of the bootie.

How to Achieve It:

  • Simply take the bottom hem of your jeans and fold up until you have around a 2 inch cuff.
  • Run your fingers around the cuff to get our any unnecessary folds or bumps

The Effortless Roll

If you’re going for more of the “I didn’t put much thought into this” asymmetrical look, doing a simple roll like this will help you achieve it.

How to Achieve It:

  • Similar to the previous one above, you’ll want to start by grabbing the bottom hem of your jeans
  • Keep in mind, this is more of a roll, so you’ll want to only pull it up a small ways – about a half inch
  • Repeat the step above without making an adjustments
  • If you want more of a ‘messy’ look, take one of the fold and unfold it slightly so you have more of a diagonal roll

The Faux Hem

This is one of our age-old secrets that always stumps our models when we’re styling them. What seemed so simple in our eyes (because we do this one often), was something we realized most people didn’t think of. This one will really only work if you have a true skinny jean or legging on – something that fits nice and snug to the leg. It creates a clean and classic faux hem for those times your jeans are just a bit too long!

How to Achieve It:

  • Start by pulling the bottom hem of your jeans as far up as they’ll go – usually a bit up the calf
  • Next, take the seam of your jeans again, and now fold over the top so that the seam of your jeans meets the bottom of the fold you just created
  • Then, take the top of the fold with your thumbs and fold all of it underneath your pants
  • Make necessary adjustments to make sure the hem hits in the right spot and the lines are clean and bump-free
  • If you’re having trouble mastering this one, remember that you’re simply tucking the excess of your jeans under – there may be multiple different methods that will help you achieve this

Psst. If you love these wedge booties as much as we do, you can find them at Tradehome Shoes!
