When on the hunt for the perfect pair, it’s important to pick styles that can add versatility to your wardrobe – a perfect example of the “less is more” philosophy. I chose these styles because they range from casual to dressy, and are in colors that work well for every season and many different outfits.

Here are the styles that should be at the top of your “must-have” list:

1. The Oxford

Oxfords are considered a staple dress shoe because they offer a stylish and sleek addition to a workday or dressed up ensemble. Go for a cognac color for a shoe that spans all seasons.

2. The Boot

Perfect for fall into early spring, the boot is the perfect “in-between” shoe that offers versatility for casual and business-casual attire. Although available in many colors, brown hues are among the most popular.

3. The Sneaker

For laid-back looks, sneakers are a cool and casual choice, and work for all ages (contrary to popular belief!). Growing in popularity, there are many different styles of sneakers on the market, which can be a fun way to show off your personal style!

4. The Boat Shoe

To add a little prep to your step, the boat shoe is a fun addition to your wardrobe for the spring and summer months. This style works well with shorts when flip flops are not the best fit for your desired look.

5. The Flip Flop

An essential for those hot spring and summer days (and perfect for those lake days we all love!), flip flops are an obvious shoe staple. Opt for a neutral color, like these grey pair from Eddie Bauer, for versatility.
