Color Crush: Introducing Pantone’s 2017 Color of the Year

Ever year we wait in anticipation to see what Pantone has up it’s sleeve for the color of the year. Today we’re giving you a glimpse of the hue that’s about to take over 2017, and our favorite colors to pair it with!

We must admit, Pantone is always spot-on when it comes to their famous Color of the Year, and each year we wait in anticipation to see which hue is going to be popular for the new year. With so many possibilities, we really never know what’s coming (unless we do a little digging into popular fashion week hues), so to say we were a little surprised when we saw this year’s color is an understatement. For 2017, Pantone took a turn to the bright and bold, compared to last year’s Rose Quartz and Serenity, and the famous Marsala from 2015, but we have to say, this color is a breath of fresh air…

Without further ado, introducing…

Greenery is a yellow-green hue that is all about what’s fresh and new – perfect for the upcoming spring! Here’s what Pantone had to say about their color choice:

“Greenery is a fresh and zesty yellow-green shade that evokes the first days of spring when nature’s greens revive, restore and renew. Illustrative of flourishing foliage and the lushness of the great outdoors, the fortifying attributes of Greenery signals consumers to take a deep breath, oxygenate and reinvigorate.” – Pantone Color Institute

Although we expect this color to take over the racks a little closer to spring, we already saw glimpses of Greenery in our stores…

Dish Towel: Unglued | Tea Set: Creative Kitchen | Foot Mask: Sephora | Perfume: Sephora | Concealer: Sephora | Skirt: Forever 21

We expect to see this haute hue take over everything from the fashion scene, to beauty products and home decor. Given that it’s not the easiest color to wear for many of us, we are excited to see the many other products we can incorporate into our lives with this lively color. We even took to the halls of the mall to get a little feel for the inspiration Pantone had for this year’s color…

If you’re crushing on this green hue as much as we are, you may be wondering how to pair it with other colors in your wardrobe. Have no fear – we’ve put together a little guide on our favorite color combinations…

Greenery + Deep Green

If you’re daring enough to go monochromatic, Greenery pairs exceptionally well with a dark-shaded deep green.

Greenery + Pink

This green hue makes a fun and spring-like color combination with anything from blush and pale pinks to bright and bold hot pinks.

Greenery + Gold

We’re no strangers to this color pairing – at least now we can say we are officially on-trend when we’re rocking our Bison apparel!

Greenery + Navy

We love the fresh and timeless color pairing of green and navy. This is a perfect combo for special occasions or work wear.

Greenery + Orange

You can’t go wrong with two citrus hues. Green and orange are meant to be paired!

Greenery + Crystal Blue

If you’re still crushing on Serenity and Rose Quartz from last year (we’re with you), lucky for us, they can still be combined with this year’s color!

Greenery + Magenta

If you can get past the vibes of the dinosaur we all know from our childhood years, this color combo is a fresh and bold take on spring hues.

Greenery + Tan

Whether it’s tan, beige, or black, Greenery pairs well with neutrals in general, however, the warm shades of tan really give it that earthy vibe Pantone was going for!
