Hi, everyone – West Acres Style Expert here! Every fashion season, I have the pleasure of styling fun spring looks for the Valley News Live morning crew for our fashion segments. With every new season, it seems there are so many trends to try, and a lot of times it’s hard to figure out just what trends you can sneak into your workday wardrobe. With everyone’s dress code being a little different, it can be hard to define just what those are, but I hope sharing these looks with you will give you a little inspiration to put together spring office looks of your own!

The Valley Today team is always so open-minded when we do these segments, and I love hearing when they say that they wouldn’t normally pick these items for themselves, but they end up loving them! If there’s anything I can say, it’s that you always have to step out of your comfort zone and try new styles on, you may be surprised at which trends you fall in love with.

So without further ado, here are the workday looks from our spring fashion segment (and tips for wearing these trends)…

Lisa Budeau

I knew Lisa’s love for dresses, so I tried to stick to that when picking out her outfit. From the moment I saw this dress, I knew it was the perfect piece, not only for spring, but also for this segment! The lightweight fabric, but long sleeves, make it the perfect dress for spring. I loved the inset lace detailing and floral print. The overall look also works well going into other seasons, which makes it extremely versatile.

The Trends:

  • Floral prints
  • Flowey dresses
  • Block heel shoes

Kyle Bosch

With Kyle’s need to wear a suit, it may seem like there aren’t many ways to switch it up each season, but that’s not necessarily true! Playing with different suit colors, styles, and types of ties are a great way to subtly incorporate trends for this kind of dress code. I chose a darker charcoal suit for Kyle, as grey and tan are great color choices for spring suits. Blue is also a growing suit trend, and would be fun to try if a suit style is your everyday go-to. I also chose a vested look, which isn’t typical for Kyle, but it really adds a little something to the look. Next, we said goodbye to silk ties and moved onto linen, which looked amazing with the different coral-hued stitching that made up this tie.

The Trends:

  • Hus and shades of pink

  • Vested suits

Lisa Green

There’s just something about a simple dress that makes a statement. This dress was jaw-dropping on Lisa Green! From the statement sleeves to the slight A-line shape, and the dusty rose color, we couldn’t have found a better fit. I love this dress because it’s not only great for the office, but it’d work perfect for upcoming weddings or spring soirees. To keep the rest simple. I chose an ombre pink necklace and nude heels to finish off the look.

Kristi Larson

It’s always a blast picking items for Kristi because we always get to try so many different looks until we have to narrow it down to our top favorites. This look was at the very top of our list – it takes trendy work wardrobe to the next level! The best thing about this outfit is that it has so many versatile pieces (you know I’m all about versatility). From the top all the way down to the shoes, each piece can be worn in so many different ways, for many different occasions.

Let’s start with the top. I loved this top because it has a soft enough elastic at the neckline that it can be pulled up on the shoulders for the workday, or brought down to create an off-the-shoulder look for a night out. The varying stripes added interest and detail, while still remaining contemporary and chic. It’s an all-around winner for spring!

When it comes to these tie-waist pants (which are a big trend for spring!), we quickly grew a liking to the fabric – it was incredible soft and stretchy. The fact that they were in the trending dusty rose color was just a bonus (did we mention they also come in black, navy, and olive?). These pants could easily be transitioned from a work day with a blouse and heels, or dressed down with a tee and slip-ons for a casual day out.

I completed the look with a black block heeled shoe. If there is one must-have shoe for spring (besides sneakers, of course) it’s the block heel! They add a whole other level of comfort to heels and are a trendy way to upgrade your current heels!
